Kyoto was the ancient capital of Japan for more than 1000 years, and features 14 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and also home to more than 2,000 shrines and temples. Kyoto is not only a historic city; it is also a tourist city, attracting more than 50 million of domestic and foreign visitors annually. Therefore, the Congress attendants are strongly advised booking your hotel as early as possible. Since most of nice accommodations are always busy, booking just before the Congress is very difficult. The Congress has reserved a block of guestrooms either at Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto (adjacent to the Congress venue) or at the city center which is convenient for tourism and dining. Please visit the Congress web site to book your hotel room at your earliest convenience.

How to Access Kyoto

The nearest airports to come to Kyoto are Kansai International Airport (KIX) and Osaka Itami Airport (ITM). Visitors can easily reach Kyoto by bus or train transportation from these two airports.

Osaka Itami is a domestic airport.  Although KIX is an international airport, lager hub airports in Japan are Tokyo-Narita Airport (NRT) and Tokyo-Haneda Airport (HND). Many people may take a flight for Tokyo from their home country, and then take a domestic connection to KIX or ITM.

The flight between Tokyo and KIX/ITM takes only 1 hour. Some visitors may stay in Tokyo or the other places for extra days just before or after the Congress. In such a case, High-speed train called ‘Shinkansen’ offers a comfortable journey to come to Kyoto.
