Welcome from the Congress Chair |
|
Dear colleagues and friends,
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 14th International Conference of the International Association for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology (IATDMCT) 2015.
The theme of the conference is "ALL TIME HIGH BELOW SEA LEVEL". The conference features 6 plenary lectures, 35 concurrent symposia, 50 oral and poster sessions and 25 roundtables. An ALL TIME HIGH quality program will be presented to you in an innovative and compact three day event.
Further a preconference features a "hands on" and interactive clinical toxicology symposium on "novel psychoactive substances". A post congress symposium deals with state of the art PK/PD models.
Did you know that:
|
- over 800 colleagues have registered?
- we will celebrate and toast on our 25th anniversary?
- we will enjoy a walking dinner in the Laurenskerk, with plenty of music and dance in ALL TIME HIGH atmospheres?
- you may join the "Rotterdam Ambassadors" in an early morning run over the Erasmus bridge crossing the river?
- and that all this takes place behind dykes BELOW SEA LEVEL in the beautiful city of Rotterdam?
We invite you to join us and taste the Dutch hospitality we would like to share with you.
Regards,
Eric J.F. Franssen Chair, Local Organizing Committee, IATDMCT 2015 Rotterdam, the Netherlands

Welcome from your IATDMCT President |
|
The IATDMCT international congresses represent a unique opportunity for all members to meet again, share their latest results and learn from others about fields covering toxicology, personalized therapeutics and analytical methods.
IATDMCT is also a stimulating platform for young trainees to get involved in professional practice and discuss with senior scientists and diagnostic industry representatives. I've had the chance to attend almost all IATDMCT congresses (this will be my 12th meeting) and I have never been disappointed, neither by their organization nor by their scientific content.
I trust this new 2015 Rotterdam edition « All Time High Below Sea Level » will again be a success and will remain in our members memories. I want to acknowledge the local organizers as well as the sponsors for their tremendous effort, and I wish everybody a wonderful congress combining science and friendship in a pleasant atmosphere.
Pierre Wallemacq IATDMCT President

Today's Plenary Sessions |
|
MoP1 - When and How to Treat Paracetamol Overdoses David Nicholas (Nick) Bateman
Paracetamol poisoning is the commonest acute poisoning in most European countries and in North America, and is the most frequent cause of acute liver injury requiring transplantation. Treatment of poisoning is based on an understanding of the mechanisms and time-frames of toxicity. The key problem is balancing the risk from the overdose to the need for treatment with acetylcysteine. There is no standard international agreement on this, and the reasons and implications of different approaches will be discussed. Finally recent work on a new treatment regimen, and novel toxicity markers will be described.
|
MoP2 - TDM for Oncology: A New Scientific Committee Yusuke Tanigawara
A new Scientific Committee “TDM in Oncology” has just started. This session describes the background, objectives, scope and potential activities of this new scientific committee. A number of researches have been recently reported indicating that oncology will be a promising field to apply the TDM concept. This session also reviews recent advances on the personalized dosage of oncology drugs.
